The history of Seagull Watch 1963 is a microcosm of China's manufacturing industry in the initial stage of industrialization, marking the rise and independent innovation of China's watch manufacturing industry. ‌

The Seagull Watch 1963 Chronograph is China's first self-developed aviation chronograph, known as the "China's Air Force One". The development background of this watch was in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Faced with the blockade and restrictions of foreign technology, the Chinese watch manufacturing industry went through arduous efforts from imitation to catching up and then to innovation. ‌

In 1955, the first watch in China was born at Tianjin Watch Factory (later renamed "Seagull"), marking the beginning of China's watch manufacturing industry. Subsequently, in 1963, the Seagull Watch Factory successfully developed the 1963 Chronograph, which not only possessed excellent mechanical performance but also incorporated profound historical and cultural heritage, becoming a source of pride for China. ‌

The development of the Seagull 1963 chronograph was aimed at breaking free from dependence on imported aviation watches and improving its manufacturing level. It has passed the testing of important indicators such as travel time accuracy, high and low temperature, vibration, and demagnetization, and has been put into production after being finalized by military units and expert organizations such as the Air Force Command, Naval Aviation Command, and Naval Equipment Ordering Department. The manufacturing quantity of this watch is limited, and only frontline pilots are qualified to wear it. As it is a military product, it has not been released to the public. Later, the Seagull Watch Factory launched a modern replica version with numbers, allowing more people to understand and appreciate this historically significant watch. ‌
